NFL Preseason Preview: Lions Offense Looking To Make A Mark In Baltimore

By SBRForum.com

The Detroit Lions will be looking to put forth a better performance in Week 2 of the NFL preseason after a sluggish outing in their opener. The reality is that the Lions don’t necessarily have to prove as much in the preseason as they did in previous years when they were coming off winless or ugly losing seasons, but the coaching staff does want the first-teamers to look far more crisp than they did against Cleveland.

These games set a certain tone and Detroit will look to do a better job of that in Week 2.

Detroit Lions @ Baltimore Ravens

Betting Line: Ravens -3

Matt Stafford threw the ball just seven times against Cleveland still threw a pick and was sacked once. The first-string offense produced zero points and had just 74 yards of offense.

The good news is that the Lions are facing the Baltimore Ravens. Normally, their defense is a big challenge but there’s a reason why the NFL odds makers have them as a minor three-point favorite at home: they didn’t look so hot in their preseason opener.

The Atlanta Falcons shredded the Ravens en route to a 31-17 win in Week 1 where the Falcons scored 17 first-half points. Receiver Julio Jones had a field day with six catches, 109 yards and a touchdown in just over one quarter’s worth of action. This should all be encouraging news to a Lions offense that needs to make a better impression.

The bottom line is that the Lions are a 10-6 team coming off a disappointing playoff result and the coaching staff simply wants to ensure that they are still heading in the right direction. That means better showings from the first-stringers in Week 2, so look for them to produce a much better effort in Baltimore.
