David Murphy
Murphy has nearly taken over a starting outfield job in Texas. Over the past two weeks he has been on fire, relegating Julio Borbon to bench duty. During that period, Murphy has hit .319 while adding four home runs and 16 RBI's. Murphy has even show some speed, stealing five bags and plating nine runs over the past 14 days. Murphy is a useful stopgap option in most mixed formats so long as he can keep Borbon out of the starting lineup.
Bud Norris
Despite playing for the lowly Astros, Norris is making the most of his appearances. The starting pitcher is 4-0 in his past five starts, striking out 34 over that period. Norris's 3.31 ERA makes him an option limited to deeper mixed league formats, but he should be owned and starting in those leagues.
Jon Garland
In the midst of a division race Garland has been spectacular. He has five quality starts in his last five appearances. Though he has struck out only 23 during that time frame, his 1.93 ERA makes him a useful option in all mixed formats. Add Garland and ride his streak, much like the San Diego Padres have been doing.
