On Friday, it was announced that Junior safety Robbie Green will be ineligible for the 2010 football season for an unknown reason.

This should not come as a complete surprise to Tide fans, Green's eligibility has been in question since February, when he was suspended by Nick Saban for violating team rules.

The ruling on Green probably could not come at a worse time for Alabama, following the injury of Freshman Defensive Back Dequan Menzie, in a secondary that already lacked experience.

After playing in every game last year, starting in six, Green was expected to take Justin Woodall's Free Safety spot, opposite Mark Barron.

Now its a wide open race for the FS spot with most candidates having limited or no experience.

Now, Sophomores Robert Lester and Rod Woodson are predicted to battle it out for the starting job, but don't be surprised if you see players such as BJ Scott, or former WR Kendall Kelly take the spot.
