Islanders fans have gotten their wish. Ryan Strome the 2011 top pick, will be making his NHL debut tomorrow night against the San Jose Sharks.

Garth Snow was in Los Angeles on Saturday ahead of the GM meetings and told, Arthur Staple, the Islanders beat writer he was mulling a shake up to the roster. Low and behold he stayed true to his word. He placed Pierre-Marc Bouchard on waivers and brought up Strome.

Placing Bouchard was a shock seeing as I thought he was doing a good job, not a great job. I thought if anyone would be placed on waivers it would have been Peter Regin. Maybe he will be. Maybe Garth isn't done making moves. Maybe if the losing continues it wouldn't surprise me if Snow pulls the plug on Jack Capuano and replace him with either Peter Laviolette or another veteran coach who knows how to win in the league.

Time will tell.

Getting back to Strome. He is a very talented kid and will thrive with the team (should they utilize his skills the right way).  He has been lighting up the AHL (American Hockey League) and deserves to be given a chance to see if he belongs in the NHL.

If I had to guess I would say he slots in on the right side next to Vanek and Tavares on the first line. If they want to keep him at his natural position they should place him on the second line where he will likely be for his career. It also moves the rest of the players down in the line-up to their respectful slots.

Again, I don't think Snow is done. There is A LOT of work to be done to right the ship.

Stay tuned...
