There have been some changes made to the Lightning Strikes Green Tree II card. Rod Salka will still be promoting and headlining but he will be fighting Ryan Belasco, not Ivan Hernandez as previously reported, (18-5-3 3 KO) of Delaware.
The fight will still be for the NABA US and vacant IBO International lightweight title. Belasco is 4-1 in his last five fights and undefeated in his last four. He is durable as well as he has not been stopped in any of his five losses. The fight will take place over 10 rounds.
It appears Jason Bergman will be fighting on the card after him and his team stated they wouldn't be. He will be fighting Buster Douglas protege John L. Smith for the vacant NABA heavyweight title.
Smith (13-0-1 3 KO) had won 13 straight until he drew with Daniel Martz in his last fight for the vacant Ohio State heavyweight title. Bergman is a big step up for Smith as this is the first veteran he has faced.
Bergman (20-10-2 13 KO) is coming off of his first loss in four years and we be looking to get back into the title hunt. Bergman's punching power may be the difference win the fight. Smith is a good boxer but doesn't posses knockout power and may find it hard to keep Bergman off of him.
Bergman can struggle with good boxers though and the fight may come down to Bergman landing that big shot. I favor Bergman though because he has more experience against top flight opposition.
Sammy Vasquez also returns on the card against Gilbert Venegas (12-10-4 8 KO). The 36-year-old Venegas is 1-2-1 (1 NC) in his last five fights. This should be a very winnable fight for Vasquez (10-0 6 KO).
This is a very good card with the addition of Bergman and if you call yourself a fight fan you have to be in attendance come October 12.
