Rod Salka will again be headlining and promoting a card when he returns to the ring at The Greentree Sportsplex. Salka will be defending his NABA US title as well as the vacant IBO intercontinental title.
He will be taking on veteran Ivan Hernandez (29-4 23 KO). Hernandez lost his last fight, to an undefeated fighter, but is 5-1 (4 KO) in his last six.
Salka (17-2 3 KO) will obviously have to watch out for the power of Hernandez and use his boxing skills to his advantage. Salka has won his last two fights since dropping a close decision to veteran Dorin Spivey, 41-6 coming into the fight.
He knocked out tough veteran Emmanuel Lucero to win the NABA US title and took a stay busy fight against Osnel Charles.
If Salka can get the win here and then defend the title three times, once against a top 50 fighter and twice against a top 100 fighter, he will be the number one contender for a world title by next summer.
Jason Bergman will be returning to the ring after losing his last fight to crafty veteran Maurice Harris. It was the first loss for Bergman since 2009 and dropped his record to 20-10-2 (13 KO). His opponent is TBA.
Sammy Vasquez (10-0 6 KO) is looking to keep his perfect record intact. Vasquez has had a busy 2013 and this will be his fifth fight of the year. His opponent is TBA as well.
