It's amazing how quickly things can change. Just this Monday, Ricky Steamboat was all smiles as his friends honored him with a nice ceremony on Raw. Thos smiles quickly turned to angered frowns, as Nexus attacked the legends and left Steamboat laying in the ring. In kayfabe, Steamboat was hurt, but in real life, he was supposed to walk away with nothing worse than what a football player would have from practice. Unfortunately, life doesn't always follow the script.
It was reported this morning that Steamboat was hospitalized. It was later revealed that the reason behind this hospitalization was a brain aneurysm, which is certainly worse than any of us could have imagined. Luckily, so far the news has been positive, as Steamboat as of about an hour ago was reported to be in stable condition, but this could debilitate him for a while. Heck, Gary Coleman recently died of a brain aneurysm, so this is not something to be joking around with.
Word is that the attacks on Monday had no effect on Steamboat's current condition but fans are likely to question WWE's judgement in putting a 57 year old man in the ring for a beating like that. I will not, as Ric Flair retired from WWE at that age and never was there a fear of something like that with him. Steamboat is a guy who stays in good shape, and these things sometimes can just happen.
