Northwestern (20-14) bowed once again early in post-season play as the 'Cats fell 76-64 to Rhode Island (24-9) in opening round NIT action in Kingston, RI. The 'Cats have now posted back-to-back opening round losses in the NIT and their season officially ended in seemingly fitting fashion - inconsistent play on the road. The 'Cats mustered only two true road wins - at NC State and at Michigan - all season (they won three "neutral site" games - Notre Dame, Iowa State and Indiana in the BTT). Northwestern was without starter Luka Mirkovic and his replacement, Kyle Rowley played suprisingly well, however it was Juice Thompson that even provided enough offense for NU to even stick around.
