In this year's Red-White Spring Game, CJ Zimmerer had three carries for 22 yards. While rather pedestrian, those starts are important at Nebraska because CJ Zimmerer is a fullback. And, he's on scholarship (gasp!). Not since Steve Kriewald rumbled for 51 yards near the end of an embarrassing 30-3 loss to Oklahoma back 2004 has Nebraska had a fullback make a meaningful carry with any sort of crowd watching. It's important - both practically and symbolically - for Nebraska to have a fullback as a ball carrier. And, while they're at it, maybe everything old can be new again. Perhaps the way to create a bit more explosion in the Husker offense is to get a perimeter player (dare I say a wingback) involved in the ground game.
