"Adam Foote will make it official on Friday: he's retiring.  The Avalanche defenseman will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. at the Pepsi Center to announce his retirement following this season, NHL sources tell The Denver Post.  Foote may still play this weekend for the Avs, but is currently sidelined with a leg injury.  He will retire having played 20 seasons in the NHL, all but one and three quarters with the Avalanche franchise."

"Foote, 39, has appeared in more regular-season and playoff games than any defenseman in franchise history, and was a member of Colorado's two Stanley Cup championship teams."

For me, Adam Foote will be remembered as the steady warrior defenseman, the rock of the Colorado...
