So now that the Redskins have traded for Donavan McNabb for their 2nd round pick (#37), acquired Larry Johnson, and Willie Parker. They need to add someone to help on the offensive line. Russell Okung has to be the guy at #4. None of the Redskins running backs are getting any younger and McNabb has missed 17 games in the last 4 seasons, so you need someone to protect him.
The trading for Donavan McNabb makes Jason Campbell expendable, so now until the draft they should be working on trading Campbell. Possible suitors for Campbell: would be Oakland and definitely the Buffalo Bills, and if you can trade Campbell for a 2nd round pick Oakland holds the (#39), and the Bills (#41). You have essential traded a 3rd or 4th round pick next year for McNabb, who is no question an upgrade over Campbell.
So what should the Redskins do if they are able to move Campbell? I still think they should try and trade down for additional picks, the Redskins only have 4 picks in the draft after this trade, they don’t have a 2nd, 3rd or 6th rounder. And as the oldest team in the league last year, they Redskins aren’t getting any younger. I believe they still lack speed on offense, and they need help at the free safety position. I would love to see them draft RB Jahvid Best of Cal, if they were unable to trade down; the best free safety on the board, or an outside linebacker, which hasn’t been discussed because the Redskins are switching to the 3-4 defense this year.
Another rumor I heard about that I liked, was the trading of Albert Haynesworth, who I heard the Redskins offered to the Eagles. If they could get some draft picks in this years draft for him, I am all for it, doesn’t look like Haynesworth is going to be in the long term plans of the new staff in Washington.
