Jordan Phillips- Defensive Tackle

Rivals Rank- 4-star, #4 DT, #42 overall

ESPN- 4-star, #12 DT, #146 overall

Phillips comes to OU as the top player in the state of Kansas, according to Rivals.  Because of his size and skill set, Phillips has been able to simply overpower opponents at the high school level.  

That is not going to happen without some serious work at the college level and Phillips' tendency to take some plays off and not go 100 percent all the time is a knock against him.

However, his abilities as a pass rusher and tackler far outweigh those concerns.  Those will be corrected by the college game, as will filling out his defensive-tackle frame.  All three tackles should play a big role for the Sooners in 2011.
