One of the many uncertainties during this offseason for the Boston Celtics had been whether or not Rasheed Wallace would officialy retire. After Game 7 of the NBA Finals Rasheed waited outside the officials locker room to say his goodbye's to referee Dan Crawford. At that moment many predicted this would be the last we saw of Sheed in the NBA.
Following that moment emotions settled down, "The Big Three" decided to come back, Jermaine O'Neal joined the squad, and most recently "The Big ____" came to town. With all of that going on the thought of Sheed rejoining the squad popped back up.
That was until today when Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reported that Rasheed will in fact be retiring, according to his agent Bill Strickland.
After weeks of speculation about his status for next year, Rasheed Wallace indeed plans to retire, according to his agent, Bill Strickland.
Newest Celtic Shaquille O'Neal told reporters in Orlando this weekend that Wallace was rethinking his decision to retire and pleaded with the four-time All-Star to return for at least another season. Strickland told the Globe on Monday that his client will not return to the Celtics.
Now that this is somewhat official the flood gates are open for all sorts of possibilites as to what the C's can/will do with Sheed's contract. Will they buy him out?
