The Boston Celtics bounced back from last night's loss in Philadelphia by defeating the New York Knicks tonight by the score of 104-101. Without Shaquille O'Neal, Glen Davis, and Delonte West in the lineup the Celtics were once again undermanned against their opponent but overcame the disadvantage to come out with a win.

Paul Pierce helped put the C's over the top by nailing a "vintage" Paul Pierce jumper with eight seconds remaining in the game. He followed it up by making one of two free throws with 2.7 seconds left putting the Celtics up by three. They then intentionally fouled Ronny Turiaf who missed both foul shots.

The Celtics were led by Ray Allen who dropped in 24 points in 39 minutes of action. Am'are Stoudemire dominated the Celtics frontline throughout the night and paced the Knicks with 30 points.

With 4:39 remaining in the second quarter, Kevin Garentt was ejected from the game after arguing a questionable call. Garnett exited his serious mode and took a minute to laugh at the referee for the way he handled the situation. The game had a total of five technical fouls.

Game Notes:

  • Luke Harangody looked comfortable out on the floor for the second consecutive game. His out of the ordinary shooting form connected on two out of five attempts from behind the arc. He ended with his first career double-double, dropping in 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
  • Stephen Lasme once again proved why he should be on this team. His stats may not be overwhelming but it is the intangibles that make him so valuable. He ended with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and a blocked shot in just over 15 minutes of play.
  • Lasme's competition, Von Wafer, was scoreless and statless on the night.
  • Rondo (40 min.), Pierce (36 min.), and Allen (39 min.) all played close to their regular minutes.
  • Avery Bradley played for only two minutes in tonight's game after complaining about swelling in his ankle following last night's game.
  • With 4:00 remaining in the game fans at Madison Square Garden began chanting, "we want Shaq".
