You know that old bicycle you have sitting outside of your house that's been there for a while but you just don't ride it that often? It gathers some rust and doesn't run good, then you throw some WD-40 on it and all of the sudden it's just like new. Tonight the Boston Celtics were exactly like that old bicycle.

After having three days off since their last game, the Celtics were rusty for the better part of the first half tonight at the Garden. During that first half we'll just pretend that the Celtics were spraying the WD-40 on their bike. They came out during the second half and man was that bike running like new.

The C's used extremely intense defense and a perfect transition game to go on a 28-6 run during the third quarter to turn a double digit defecit into a double digit lead. Ray Allen led the third quarter charge for the Celtics with 15 points, including 2 three point shots, in under five minutes.

  • Paul Pierce led the Celtics in the scoring category with 17 points.
  • The Celtics starters stayed in the game longer than expected. After the first half many people doubted that we'd see the starting five back on the court. Well, we did. The Celtics starting five was responsible for the third quarter comeback.
  • If you listened to the crowd at the TD Garden you would have never thought this was a preseason game. The crowd was regular season like during the entire second half.
  • Shaq had his best game as a Celtic tonight. In a sloppy first half Shaq established himself as one of the few positives for the Celtics. He dropped in 12 points on the night, all of which came in the first half. He also pulled down nine boards. We could have used those during game...ahhhh... I won't go there.
  • Rondo put up the stats I want to see him put up tonight. 8 points and 12 assists. He took it to the hoop when it was there, shot open jumpers when they were there, and set things up perfectly when things weren't there.
