Sure enough that is exactly what happened. Syracuse had a big scare in Wes Johnson toppling pretty hard to the ground, but luckily he seemed alright and should be good to go on Sunday. But Syracuse ended up on top as Syracuse rolled to their best start in program history. Syracuse handles Providence 85 to 68. Syracuse jumped out to a small lead and maintained a good margin only to let Providence keep it close and only be down three points at the half.
