Baltimore, Maryland has produced many bright young athletic stars. Athlete's such as Carmelo Athony of the New York Knicks, Akil Carr, Josh Selby and many more, but none more promising than boxer Rock Blackwell.
Rock Blackwell was born on November 22nd, 1986 in Baltimore, Maryland. Rock developed a love for boxing at age seven, fighting in 156 olympic style bouts, winning the 2008 South Atlantic Championship before turning professional in May of 2009. Blackwell holds only one professional defeat at 154lbs due to a broken right hand and excessive levels of dehydration.
Blackwell stayed active in the ring, making great progress, moving into a new weight class. Indeed, Blackwell is a force to be reckoned with in the super middle weight division. "The kid trains like a true champion, he's hungry" says former 3 time world champion Paul "The Punisher" Williams after a sparring session in Maryland. Blackwell have developed a reputation for his boxing prowess & explosive speed and punching power, becoming a very exciting fighter to watch. Rock has the ability to unload very fast accurate combinations, it's why many compare him to Former WBC & IBF welter weight title holder, Andre Berto.
Still young at only 25 years of age, Rock is now fighting and training out of Pennsauken, New Jersey under the tutelage of trainer extraordinaire, Coach James "Rick" Coward. I am very excited about the future development of this kid, he will truly some day marvel the boxing world.
