1. What Significant Moves were made during the off-season?
The acquisition of Shaquille O’Neal and Jermaine O’Neal should help the Celtics in a category in which they lacked last season—Rebounding. The depth at the Center and Power Forward positions were clearly on the forefront of Ainge’s mind this offseason, he did a great job (and he did it economically).
2. What are the team’s biggest strengths?
The teams biggest strength will be, as it has been for the past two years, their veteran leadership and knowledge. There may be more athletic teams out there, but there won’t be teams that know more ins and outs, and more tricks than the Boston Celtics.
3. What are the team’s biggest weaknesses?
The teams biggest weakness is its vulnerability to the injury bug. There is no question Doc will limit the minutes of the players so they are ready for the playoffs, the only problem comes by freak injuries that can (as it did Kevin Garnett in 08-09) leave them on the bench for the remainder of the season.
Another weakness will be its backup Small Forward. Paul Pierce is going to need to get rest, but who is going to give him that time off? Marquis Daniels is going to have to come in and prove that he is who we thought he was at the start of last season.
4. What are the goals for this team?
The regular season goal is to make it through the season rested and ready for the playoffs. The ultimate goal is a championship.
