After trailing 1-0 heading into the third period, Brayden Schenn scored 6:55 into the frame to tie the game. However, Phoenix's Brett Maclean scored at 15:28 of the third, which proved to be the game-winner.
For insurance, former King Eric Belanger added an empty-netter with 52 seconds remaining to ice the game for Phoenix.
Jonathan Quick was in goal for the Kings and, although he had a few shaky moments, did play very well overall.
With the two losses, the Kings are now 1-1-1 in the preseason and will continue their schedule on Tuesday as they host the Anaheim Ducks.
