The Pittsburgh Penguins have extended the contract of head coach Dan Bylsma to a three-year extension through the 2013-14 season. Bylsma joined the team during the 2008-09 in relief of Michel Therrien. Bylsma took the team on to win the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.

 Last year, in his first full season behind the bench the Penguins were 47-28-7 for 101 points.

 This season, Bylsma was featured in a four part series on HBO called 24/7 Washington Capitals-Pittsburgh Penguins Road to the 2011 NHL Winter Classic. But, he lost the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic 3-1. This season the Penguins are in good shape to make the playoffs.
