Wow, did that end up harder than it had to be. Phils win 3-2, but this offense needs to wake up.
Roy Oswalt was dazzling tonight. 8 innings of only allowing 5 baserunners should be good enough for the win every time. At 3.12, his ERA is slowly getting closer to dipping under 3.00. Brad Lidge had a blown save on a terrible string of events: intentional walk, hit Ludwich on 0-2, the balked in the winning run. He really only allowed a hit to Matt Stairs (still love that guy by the way). Durbin gets win # 4 as he has proven to be an invaluable piece to the 'pen this year.
Here's to hoping this was Rollins wakeup game. He went 3 for 5 with a walk and, although he's only batting .248, his OBP is .333. Not great, but good considering his average.
With Atlanta losing, the Phils are only 2 games back of the division lead have a 1/2 game lead on the Giants for the wild card. Tomorrow, Jon Garland takes on Joe Blanton at 4:10. Here's hoping Kentucky Joe can build on a string of recent solid starts.
Really? This is what movies have come to:
