The phils were shut down today by Tim Hudson 8-0, only managing one extra base hit by Placido Polanco. J.A. Happ was roughed up for 4 earned runs in 5 innings. The only phillie to pitch a complete shutout inning, David Herndon, still gave up a hit and 2 walks.
At the dish, Polanco had 2 hits, raising his spring batting average to .410. The best news of the day was the return of Carlos Ruiz who had 3 plate appearances. Ruiz, due to being ill twice, has only had 23 plate appearances all spring.
Kyle Kendrick will take the mound tomorrow against the Astros. He will look to match Jamie Moyer's most recent stellar performance.
In roster news, the struggling Mike Zagurski was sent down to the minors. Since tearing his hamstring after as brief stint in the majors 2 seasons ago, Zagurski has struggled to get back on track, looking overmatched this spring. He at one time was considered a closer in waiting. Hopefully he can right this ship this season.
