Man do the Phils hate scoring runs for Cole.
Tonight was a game that never really felt like it was going to go our way. Cole wasn't sharp, giving up 5 earned in 5 innings, seeing his ERA rise to 3.51 and his record fell to 7-10. The only good pitching performance was David Herdon going 3 strong to save the bullpen from having to log half a game worth of innings.
At the dish, despite Mike Sweeney's 2 RBI double (giving him 3 in red pinstripes), Shane Victorino contiues to hit and be the table setter. Vic went 2 for 3, including the only Phils hit of the first 8 innings. His average is slowly climbing, as he is now at .258.
Tomorrow, the Phils welcome the Nationals to town with a 1 game lead on the wild card and 2.5 game deficit in the division. Doc takes on Jason Marquis of the plus 14 ERA. Mismatch doesn't do it justice. 7:05, I'll be in attendance.
