Well the NL toughguys are adding another strong arm to the already top notch Phillies staff.  Sources confirm that Jonathan Pepelbon has agreed to a 4 year $50 million dollar deal to become the new Phillies closer.  The experiments of Lidge and Madsen haven't panned out as they had hoped since the end of their championship run in 2008. The Phillies are never satisfied unless they win the World Series, nor should they be. They have become the Yankees of the National League.  They go after the top free agents year in and year out because this team wants to win.  Ownership is not afraid to spend money and their moves have got them in the playoffs every year since 2007. The Phillies will not stop this offseason until they add another bat to help out that aging and injury filled lineup.  As a Met fan if that bat is Jose Reyes I may just stop watching baseball altogether.  But one thing seems for sure as MLB teams prepare for the upcoming season...at the end of it the Phillies will be in the mix.
