Well it took the Phillies 11 innings to score any runs but they were able to salvage one game avoiding the sweep.
Well, Cole Hamels has really taken back the role of great starter for this team. To be honest, I was surprise Charlie pulled him when he did. Even though he didn't factor into the decision, Cole went 8 innings giving up zero runs, 1 hit, and 1 walk. His ERA is down to 3.40 on the season and he has only allowed more than 3 earned runs in 1 of his past 10 starts. Chad Durbin picked up his second win of the year and Brad Lidge saved his 8th.
Charlie moved around the lineup a bit today and it came with mixed results against Adam Wainwright. They were able to get 12 hits and 2 walks, but could not cash in, going 1-10 with runners in scoring position. Placido Polanco, hitting leadoff for the first time this year, went 3 for 5 with his 6th home run and 30th RBI of the year. His average now sits at .319 and his home run would be the game winning hit. Ryan Howard cashed in with 3 hits.
The Phillies remain 7 games out of the division race and, amazingly, only 3 games out of the wild card. Tomorrow night they start a 3 game home set against the Colorado Rockies as Roy Halladay takes on Aaron Cook at 7:05.
