Kurt Busch made the Chase in 2010 but he wasn’t a factor for the title and was very inconsistent. He won two races, nine top fives and 17 top 10 finishes.
Busch season was just as up and down as his Chase was for him.
For Busch that has been a pattern the last couple seasons. He runs well for a weeks but then follows those strong finishes up with disappointing runs.
Busch is capable of winning the title again and bring Roger Penske his first NASCAR Sprint Cup title but Busch has work to do if he wants to be the one bring it home.
It’s not unknown that Busch can let his emotions get the best of him at times. We see it especially when they struggle or can’t make the right adjustments throughout the race.
With Steve Addington as his crew chief, Busch is hoping that 2011 could bring him back on top of the NSCS.
While Busch led a lot of laps in 2010 and won a few races, he still can’t run a complete race. They lacked the speed needed under the car.
"Right now we're a little further behind than where we want to be," the driver admitted. "We have to build some consistency back into the program. ... We're going to have to continue to fight harder and get ourselves up in the mix with the [Joe] Gibbs [Racing] and Hendrick [Motorsports] guys week in and week out."
If Busch and his team can’t figure out that missing piece they won’t be able to catch JGR and HMS in 2011.
As the only Dodge team running full time this season, they don’t have the luxury that Chevrolet and Toyota and Ford teams have. There are fewer notes in that notebook for them at times.
Busch will once again carry the banner for Penske racing. He is the leader of this organization, while his teammate Brad Keselowski is still developing in this series.
Busch has to be the leader of this team as the leader of this organization that means leading by example.
Busch will make the Chase in 2011 and he should find victory lane once again. The key for him and his team will be if they can find a way to
Busch should challenge for the title this year because this organization is better than they were in 2010.
The question for this organization is have they done enough to finally contend for a championship and not just the Chase?
