Well, It figures my first unofficial assignment would be about a 2 round Fight. So I`ll throw in my final take on the Pac-Margarito Fight last week in Dallas. Watching it on TV, sober, is always a much different experience than being in the Arena live, to say the least. But I never expected to find a lil bit of compassion and respect for Antonio Margarito? As much as he deserved the ass-kicking he recieved by the Filipino Pugilist, I wanted them to stop the fight for 2 reasons. 1 - So Manny gets the KO. 2 - He got a really bad beating and his corner was too proud, too competitive, too damn stupid to throw in the towel. I also noticed one other thing on TV that I never felt at Cowboys Stadium. That was a damn hard fight for Pacquiao and anyone who saw it that thinks otherwise is nuts!! Never before did he have to work so hard to get in and out and drop in quick combinations and use his feet to get out of there before Margarito could find him. Even against De La Hoya (which this fight reminded me a lot of) he used a lot of the same tactics by using the straight left lead, and moving to turn Oscar and get all the right angles, But it was even more evident in this fight that Manny had to keep it movin`. There were moments in the 2nd, 6th and 8th rounds that Manny played around on the ropes too long and took severe uppercuts and body shots that could`ve hurt him. Luckily for Manny, Freddy and the Pacquiao faithful it didn`t. Congrats to the Champ again and again. Now on to Tonight`s order of Business. I think in the back of Sergio Martinez's` mind, the one judge who scored the first bout with Paul Williams 119-110 for Williams stayed with him. He was determined not to let something like that happen to him again. Honestly, I scored the first fight for Williams 115-113 just as HBO`s Harold Lederman had it with the exception of flip-flopping rounds 1 and 11 on our respective scorecards. Nobody had to worry about scorecards tonight. The first round saw a lot more holding than the first bout between these middleweights, Williams applied the pressure, Martinez used his legs and landed some of the cleaner harder punches in the round. At the end I scored the round 10-9 for Martinez In the second round Williams again came out applying pressure and was actually having a decent start to the 2nd round and then BANG! It was over, a Pacquiao - Hatton like left hook from Martinez ended the fight! Like Hatton, Williams was asleep before he hit the canvas. This KO will be all over Youtube, it was one of those knockouts!! So what's next for these two fighters? For Williams, back to the drawing board. He certainly wont get any considerations for a scrap with Pacman after this performance; maybe Fraud Mayweather will fight him thinking he is vulnerable now. Nah, Probably not. Or maybe Fraud will step up to challenge Sergio Martinez for the middleweight title, LOL. We`ll see. Sergio said a fight with Pac or Fraud could be possible at 156lbs. Personally I think 156 is too big for Pacquiao, but Manny has a way of surprising us. Against Fraud? Only time will tell.
