Patriots Poised for the Best record Again

The 2009 New England Patriots are poised to once again dominate the regular season in 2009. I really dont think there is any argument that they will be the favorites to win the Superbowl. Last years Patriots team finished 11-5 and was down the stretch probably the best team in football. With the additions of the best QB in the game and pro-bowl freak Adalius Thomas the season looks to be very promising.

The Patriots play in the AFC east which seems like it is going to be a weak division this year. Everyone knows that the Dolphins were a fluke, and they have a tough schedule this year. They will be lucky to be .500. The Jts may have some promise to their loyal fan base, but lets face it, they are the Jets, and will always be the Jets. They do not have a quarterback. Point blank. The Bills are a train wreck year in and year out.

The Key to the Patriots is their dominating defensive line. The Patriots defensive line is unmovable and they have plaenty of Depth. They have the best defensive player in the division in Vince Wilfork (sorry Joey Porter) The only thing New England was lacking was a speed pass rusher and they addressed that issue with the signing of Derrick Burghess. The Patriost defensive line has for years gotten no credit, and they are the main reasom the Patriots linebackers get all the credit. The Patriots linebackers are over rated and have been, i will admit that. We now have what looks like to be a stud in Jerod Mayo.

The Big question mark is the Patriots secondary, they do have good safeties, but they are a little lacking at corner. Playing in that division though, corner really isnt needed with subpar QB's in the AFC East.

Someone said that the Patriots could go 16-0 once again. Im not stupid, i realize that wont happen, but if you look at the Patriots schedule right now , you cant tell me one game where they would not be favored to win that game if played today. Anything can happen in the NFL, but the Patriots will almost undoubtedly get homefield for the playoffs and its very tough to win in Foxboro in January.Almost impossible. The Patriots will go to the Super Bowl and  we will see what happens from there.
