It seems that the Bill Parcells era has finally started the beginning of the end.
Today, the Miami Dolphins released a statement regarding Parcells and general manager Jeff Ireland.
"Effective immediately, Jeff Ireland will assume full control over all aspects and decisions in regard to the Miami Dolphins football team and support staff. This was the intent of the structure put in place in the past. Bill Parcells will remain with the club on a daily consultant basis."
At first I questioned whether or not this had any hidden meaning, with Parcells leaving so close to the start of the season, but then I thought about it, and realized that Parcells oversaw everything that dealt with bringing in new personnel, such as the draft, and free agency. The off-season is over, which means, besides Parcells coaching views on the team and their performance, he is really not needed at this time of year anymore.
This is Parcells way of shoving Ireland out into the real world, and give him a taste of how to run a team with him in charge of everyone on the team.
I suspect that Parcells will completely stray awau from the Fins by seasons end, thus giving full control to both Ireland and head coach Tony Sparano to run the team THEIR way.
