GREAT: 1. Running game--140 yards 2. CB Shields--4 tackles & 1 big interception 3. DE Daniels--turning point fumble recovery for TD. 4. CB Williams--shut down Lions WR Johnson (game ball).
GOOD: 1. Offensive Line--while they allowed 3 sacks, they executed solid running game 2. Rookie RT Barclay--good. 3. RB Harris--nice touchdown run. 4. WR Cobb-solid in the clutch with 7 catches for 102 yards.
BAD [awful]: 1. ILBs Hawk & Jones [first half] in both run and pass coverage 2. QB Rodgers--fumble [1st half] and no passing TDs 3. Packers pass rush--without OLB Matthews. 4. Veteran RG Sitton--two first half penalties including holding call and false start 5. LG EDS--although he did have his running game moments (game ball), he got outplayed by Lions DT Fairley.
1. Rush Defense (first half)--allowed 117 yards of 135 yards by Lions against pass defense formation & soft linebackers.
2. Lions DT Su--dirty selfish player (old NFL story). As PFF said:
His third quarter penalty, for shoving [Packers QB] Rodgers wasn’t the kind of shot that will earn Suh another fine. But it was a cheap 15 yards....Packers turned it into a touchdown. It was just a senseless, pointless penalty....[due to] his reputation....The Lions are getting exactly what they deserve.
3. NFL officials--personal foul against safety Morgan Burnett (listen to NBC replay), tacky holding calls, and failure to call ejection and blant personal foul by DT Fairley on QB Rodgers.
4. OLB Frank Zombo--OLB awful [missed Lions QB Stafford tackle (game ball for special teams)].
COMMENTARY: Lucky. With these rookies on the defense, it is better to be lucky than good. Without the fumble recovery and touchdown, the Packers could have been down 21-0 at halftime. It was an unbelievable tale of two halves in Holy Lambeau Field. As foretold, the "Suuey Gate" Lions wanted to really win their "Super Bowl" game, but "Suuey" fate intervened again. Go Pack!
