Interesting story in the Sports Business Journal about the cost-cutting efforts of several conferences including the Pac-10.

This is good news for the cash-strapped league, but it's horrible news for players who arrived to Los Angeles today and might have been expecting the goodie bags the conference has traditionally given.

Who doesn't like swag? Especially good swag? It's one of the perks of being a student-athlete and one of the few times when players are actually allowed to accept gifts without penalty. But not any more. Not at least in the Pac-10, Big 10 and Md-American Conference.
