The Orioles hired Buck Showalter to replace Dave Trembley today. He will be introduced to the media on Monday's off day at Camden Yards, and will be in uniform managing the team on Tuesday night against the Angels. Juan Samuel will manage the team through the weekend in Kansas City, and Tuesday he'll return to his third base coaching duties for the remainder of the season.

I'm a lifelong sports fan, and my favorite teams are the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins, and Maryland Terrapins, although I root for all DC/Baltimore area teams. My favorite sports figures growing up (and still) were Cal Ripken Jr, Coach Joe Gibbs, Coach Gary Williams, Art Monk, and Darrell Green.
