OHL Game Day Predictions for Wednesday January 8, 2014
Barrie at Owen Sound – postponed due to snow
Kitchener at Belleville The Rangers have a slim 1 point lead over the Sarnia Sting for last place in the Western Conference. They have lost their past 2 games and have only 3 wins in their past 10 starts. Belleville is in last place in the Eastern Conference and is in last place overall in the OHL. They have only 26 points which is 3 behind the Rangers. Kitchener has won 3 of their past 10 games – Belleville has won 4 of their past 10 starts. Remi Elie leads the Bulls offensively with 42 points in 38 games (#30 overall in the league). Justin Bailey and Nick Magyar have the most points for the Rangers – 29 points in 39 games (#79 overall and #82 in league scoring). These are 2 of the least penalized teams in the league (Belleville #3 and Kitchener #4 least penalized this season). Belleville in OT
Sarnia at Sault Ste Marie This should be an interesting game due to the subplot of how each team’s new players will do on their new teams. The Greyhounds acquired Hore and Moore – The Sting get D man Kevin Spinozzi. These two teams are separated by 29 points in the standings – Sarnia has only 28 points this season. The Greyhounds are tops in their division and #2 in the conference – trailing Erie by 7 points. Both team have been struggling though – SSM with 1 point in their last 3 games and the Sting have only 1 point in their past 5 games. Top D Man for Sarnia – DeAngelo – is still out of the lineup due to league suspension (expires on Jan 10). There are a few trade rumours swirling about involving Sting players …. So this may be final time in the black and yellow for some. Greyhounds by 2 goals.
