Well, this article was going to go up yesterday, but due to a computer freeze (my fault entirely), I lost the article, and thus, I must start from scratch. Stupidity has its price, and I am paying it. However, the small silver lining is that it gave me time to process my thoughts a bit more, so hopefully, things will be better this time around (not like you'd know, but I will!). This article was always meant to be a reflection on this week's edition of NXT, so I will get right to it and share some thoughts on the show:
-I tuned in about 10 minutes late and I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about that.
-The first image I saw when flipping to the channel was Lucky Cannon locking lips with what looked to be an uglier version of the Waterboy's mama. Cannon, however, looks pretty into it, so there must be something behind this.
-Percy Watson was up next to kiss this she-beast, and he looks disgusted. I'm guessing it is because she is in fact his cousin, which is also his aunt and sister. (Hint, he looks like an inbred for those who completely missed that)
-Kaval is next, but gets kissed by Layla before he has to kiss the revolting blog. I've never been more jealous of Kaval in my life.
-Kaval still has to kiss the thing. I'd still take that trade off if it meant kissing the beautiful Layla.
-Alex Riley is last, and he attacks the blob like she's the lucky one for getting to kiss him. This guy has a holier-than-thou attitude that makes me think that he drives an escalade and blasts his music in the classic case of "overcompensation".
-Lucky Cannon wins the kissing competition and fans boo. Apparently, they have no sympathy for a guy who was in a coma. I get that he hasn't been the most exciting person on TV, but then again, no one in this season has.
-Apparently the prize for this competition was a bunch of diseases. No one is surprised by this revalation. I feel like this was a complete waste, but at the same time, it was pretty funny.
-Husky Harris and Kaval have a rematch. It isn't long and Harris wins again. Apparently, the whole "push the small guys" thing doesn't apply to NXT. Either that, or the plan is to completely bury these guys and then somehow start a shrimp revolution when NXT is finished with Hornswoggle as leader.
-Miz is shown on the screen talking about Michael McGillicutty. He says that it's nice for Mike to want to be like daddy, but he is mediocre. As usual, I completely agree with Miz.
-Lucky and McGillihennig argue over who needs to face Miz more. Neither do, as both will get absolutely murdered.
-Kofi taunts Miz on behalf of his rookie and is entertaining on the mic for the first time ever. Where was that the past 4 years?
-It is agreed that the winner of a McGillihennig/Cannon match will face Miz at the end of the show. Should be a fun squash to end it.
-After commercial. the match lasts about a minute with McGillihennig winning. I dubbed this "the Battle of the Bland" and Colonel Mike beat Private Lucky in a glorified squash. Unfortunately, Colonel Mike will have the privelege of taking on General Miz later.
-The pros argue over who is the worst pro, which is blah until Miz comes out and says they all suck. This prompts the moment of the night, where Morrison yells at him and Miz tells him he's done nothing since they split as a team. The truth hurts, senor Morrison.
-Percy Watson has a promo on screen about his dislike for Alex Riley. He sounds normal, and for the first time, I kind of care about him. He should stick to not looking like a fool all the time. It might just get him somewhere.
-Watson and Riley have their match. Riley's pecs are HUGE. If he dropped the stupid jacket and gimmicky character, he'd be a real star.
-Even though Percy is dumb looking, he is athletic and this match is the match of the night. Both of these guys work pretty well, but Riley was better and got the win with his Brock Lesnar-esque finisher.
-After commercial, Miz beats McGillihennig pretty handily. The lesson here is don't mess with the master. By the way, McGillicutty look like a cross between Charlie Haas and Jamie Noble............and nothing like his father.
-I would recommend rewatching Kofi's mockery of Miz and Miz's reaction, as well as Miz and Morrison's argument later on. Those were the best parts of the show, and I think it's obvious that Miz brings out the best in mediocre mic talents. Should be interesting to see if this becomes a trend.
This was an entertaining show, despite having no eliminations. If you keep in mind that some things on the show will be stupid and "not for a wrestling show", you will always be entertained by NXT. Of course, that's due more to the pros than the rookies, as this crop is nowhere near the originals. I will be making my predictions for this show soon, so look for that. For now, I leave you to go on youtube and find the videos I have recommended to you. To help you out, I gave you the one with Miz and Kofi's interaction. Enjoy!
