Saturday afternoon the NASCAR Sprint Cup series hit the track for qualifying for Sunday’s Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
It was a Wisconsin showcase in qualifying as Matt Kenseth who went early in the race laid down the fastest lap in the session with a lap of 183.2 mph with a 29.47 second lap.
Paul Menard, also from Wisconsin will start second with a lap of 183.1 mph.
For Kenseth it is just his sixth career pole in 427 starts.
The drivers who did not make the race were Travis Kvapil, David Starr, Stephen Leicht, and Mike Skinner.
The Chase drivers are spread out throughout the field fior Sunday's race. Kenseth starting on the pole all the way down to Kevin Harvick who will start 30th.
The practice sessions yesterday saw a mixed bag of speeds and that equated to qualifying. Some chose an early draw while others laid down a fast lap for a later draw.
