The Jets win over the Colts last night certainly wasn't pretty, but since when have Jets wins ever looked pretty. Their prettiest win (the 28-14 win in week 2 against the Pats) has been erased from memory by the 45-3 massacre at Gillette. The game last night was however an exact picture of New York Jets Football. Except for Manning being able to drive down the field to setup Vinateri's 52 yarder, it was almost as if the game followed the Jets exact game plan. They kept the game close and even though Sanchez was off the entire first half, he ended up only making one true mistake the entire game. The secondary played great making only one mistake on the deep touchdown to Garcon in the first half and Reggie Wayne straight up disappeared on Revis Island. Lastly their running game became their best defense by being able to keep Manning off the field with two long touchdown drives. Then even though the defense wasn't able to stop Manning on the last drive, they were able to get the ball back for the Sanchise only down by two with a minute to go. It was at this moment that Sanchez did what he seems to best, he camly but efficiently moved the Jets up the field so that Nick Folk only had to connect on a chip shot field goal with 3 seconds on the clock to send the Jets back to Gillette next weekend.
I do however have one question that I need to be answered. With people already telling me that the Jets simply just got lucky last night just like they've gotten lucky all year long. I am wondering this; is it possible for a team to win the Super Bowl getting lucky every single game? Because if (when?) the Jets beat the Patriots next weekend there will surely be some way for the haters to say that they simply got lucky. Then they will be lucky to escape Pittsburgh with a win because Troy Polamalu must have been having a bad hair day. Then at that point I'm sure all the critics will be able to come up with some excuse for the Jets getting lucky in the Super Bowl. Now I'm not necessarily saying that the Jets are going to go all the way (or am I?). All I'm saying is that never before has an 11-5 playoff team coming off beating the best quarterback of all time, in his stadium in the playoffs, been so underappreciated. The Jets have no one but themselves to thank for this but what I want to know is if the Jets do back up their brash talk will they finally be appreciated then, or will they simply have just gotten lucky?
