Fresh off teammate Aleksandra Wozniak's win to put Canada up 1-0 at the Fed Cup, it was up to Eugenie Bouchard to keep the momentum going. The two Montrealers were hoping for a sweep on Saturday and after Wozniak's win over Serbia's Vesna Dolonc, Genie was hoping for the same success. She got it.
Facing Jovana Jaksic, Bouchard rolled, winning the match 6-1, 6-0 and giving Canada a 2-0 over Serbia in their first-round tie in the World Group II.
The action continues on Sunday as Serbia will need to win all three of their matches to defeat Canada. It definitely will not be easy as Bouchard starts off the day against Vesna Dolonc while Aleksandra Wozniak will face Bouchard's Saturday victim, Jovana Jaksic.
Should Serbia win both singles matches, they could take their first-round matchup over the Canadians in the doubles draw against Gabriela Dabrowski and Sharon Fichman. Against the duo, the Serbs will go with the team of Aleksandra Krunic and Nina Stojanovic. But one step at a time.
Up 2-0, the Canadian women have control over Serbia but are expected to take this duel one match at a time.
We will see what happens on Sunday in Montreal.
