After what turned into a very dramatic win at Indianapolis with Paul Menard holding off Jeff Gordon for the win the NASCAR Sprint Cup series heads back to Pocono.

Get well soon…

Wednesday news actually broke on Twitter that Brad Keselowski had been in a bad accident while testing at Road Atlanta. He was airlifted to the hospital where x-rays showed he fractured his foot. Thankfully that was the worse of his injuries.

Keselowski actually tweeted numerous times from the hospital room ensuring fans and members of the media that he was alright. Talk about embracing social media!

He will wisely will not participate in the Nationwide race at Iowa on Saturday as Sam Hornish, Jr. will race for him. Keselowski was cleared to race on Sunday albeit in a wee bit of discomfort.

Sweep success? Jeff Gordon has been one of the best drivers this season on flat tracks and short tracks. He won at Phoenix and Pocono this season. He had the best car at Indianapolis last week so picking Gordon might not be the worse thing you do this weekend.

With a win on Sunday he would take over third all time in wins and his sixth win at Pocono breaks a tie with Bill Elliott who has five. The last two months Gordon has went from 16th in the points to seventh. To put that in perspective in the old system that is like making up 300 points.

Done deal.

On Wednesday, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick told reporters that he and Dale Earnhardt are close to signing a contract extension. Earnhardt’s contract actually isn’t up until the end of next season.

He said earlier this season "I have another year to go, but I was sitting there and seeing how Carl (Edwards) and those guys seeing how much attention it draws to Carl and those guys and me, when I was in my last contract year. I was like, 'Hey, Rick, let's knock this out and we won't have to worry about it next year. You just tell me what you want to do. If you want to keep me as your driver, I'm happy to stay. I'm really happy where I'm at and if that's the way you feel, let's go ahead and do it. Why wait until next year? 'Cause the press wants to know what's going on and we won't have to worry about that.'"

According to the Charlotte Observer Hendrick said Wednesday “It will be a multiyear deal. We haven't been in a hurry because we both have taken it for granted that we're doing it," he said. "It's almost a foregone conclusion. We've been busy and there are a lot of contracts with sponsors. A handshake works with him and he and I have a handshake, and that's all he and I really need."

Well that gone and settles that.

The Good Sam RV Insurance 500 is Sunday at 12 ET on ESPN.
