On Saturday afternoon the NASCAR Nationwide series is at Dover International Speedway. The series is still looking for its first series regular to win a race this season.

Brian Scott in his first season with Joe Gibbs Racing is sitting eighth in the standings and 74 points off the lead.

At Dover, his average start in the NNS here is 20th. 2010 was his first time running the NNS at Dover and he started 17th to finish ninth.

Scott could use a solid finish on Saturday. He hasn’t had a top 10 finish since Texas and his best finish since then was an 11th at Talladega.

Scott has seen his share of bad luck this season, last week at Darlington was caught up in accident and ended up finishing 29th.

“No matter what we do this year we seem to catch a bad break. We qualify well and then something happens. We qualify bad, start going good and then something happens. We can’t seem to just avoid trouble this year. It’s tough. A series of bad runs takes its toll on anybody. You want so badly to just to have a good run. You just want to have a top five or a top-10 finish and just be like yes, I feel like my bad luck is over with. The one thing though is that it’s easier this year to keep your head up. We have a really strong race team. Kevin Kidd (crew chief), the guys and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing.”

For Steve Wallace 2011 hasn’t exactly gone as he hope either, last week at Darlington Wallace scored just his first top five finish of the season.

He has two 11th place finishes but seven finishes of 16th or worse have him sitting 10th in the standings heading into Dover this weekend.

Wallace needs a strong run like he had at Darlington if he wants to make his way into title contention.

Wallace has three straight top 15 finishes at Dover and his best finish was 11th and that was in 2008.

He has an average finish of 14.9 and a average finish of 19.9. Wallace has extra incentive to run well on Saturday with the race sponsored by 5 hour Energy his primary sponsor.

My drivers to watch this weekend is Scott, who needs a solid race and has the equipment to challenge for more wins.

Also, look for Justin Allgaier who currently leads the points has been consistent but hasn’t won since Bristol last spring.

The 5 hour Energy 200 is Saturday at 2pm et on ESPN.
