After an off weekend for the NASCAR Nationwide series they are back on track at Michigan International Speedway.
The series leader Reed Sorenson is still searching for his first win of the season to help bolster his points lead of two over Elliott Sadler.
Sorenson knows that he needs to win races as the gap between first and fourth is just 11 points heading into MIS.
Sorenson this season has been very consistent five top fives and 10 top 10 finishes even without winning a race. That being said a win this weekend would be huge for this team and at MIS.
We have run very well this season. I am excited to be leading the points, but with this new system, the standings have been shaking up every week. We need to keep up with these solid and consistent runs. It is consistency that is going to win this championship. I have worked with Stewart Cooper and the No. 30 team twice already this season, so I’m confident we will be successful together this weekend in Michigan.”
In five starts at MIS he has an average start of 15.2 and an average finish of 16.6. His best finish was seventh in 2006.
For the latest NNS winner Justin Allgaier he is looking to make it two wins a row this weekend after coasting to his second career win at Chicagoland.
Allgaier is fourth in the points and just 11 points behind teammate and series leader Sorenson.
In two starts at MIS his average finish is 5.5 and his best finish was fourth last August. Allgaier is looking to become the first repeat NNS regular winner this season.
MIS is a big wide track and with drivers able to take three and four wide at times there is plenty of opportunities to pass.
On the flip side of that we have seen long green flag runs here that have put the pressure on the pit crews as the laps are winding down.
My drivers to watch are Allgaier, Kenny Wallace and Aric Almirola.
The Alliance Truck Parts 250 is Saturday at 3:30 on ABC.
