The NASCAR Sprint Cup series is off this weekend but the Camping World Truck Series is in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday night.
Last week Matt Crafton was able to hold off Austin Dillon as the CWTS drivers battled door to door at Iowa.
With only series regulars running at Iowa the drivers got it done on the track. Now they head to Nashville Speedway with the points changing on a week to week basis.
Austin Dillon who had the best truck all night moved to second in the standings behind Johnny Sauter.
A slow final pit stop cost them the lead and the win but their solid points day moved them within 22 points of the lead.
This weekend Dillon heads to Nashville for just the third time in his career. He has an average start of 5.7 and an average finish of ninth.
Nashville has been a good track for the young driver and suits his racing style very well. He has a streak of two top five starts here which he will be looking to continue.
One driver quietly making his way up the standings is James Buescher. He has done it with solid and consistent runs that have him sitting fourth in the standings.
He is just 36 points off the lead and with his seventh place finish at Iowa last week; it was his seventh top 10 finish in a row.
Don’t be surprised if this weekend Buescher finds a way into victory lane. His consistency this season has been impressive.
He has been able to avoid troubles on the race track and bring his truck home every week.
Nashville is not one of his better tracks with an average start of 16.5 but he has an average finish of 12.8.
His worse finish was 17th back in August of 2009. This weekend could be the weekend the team caps off their rise in the standings with a win.
Todd Bodine wasn’t even going to be at Iowa Speedway but a partnership with Randy Moss Motorsports and number change saw Bodine at the track.
Now driving the No. 5 truck for the rest of the season Bodine will be looking for maximum points as he is 11th in the standings.
76 points off the lead doesn’t sound like much but when first through 15th are separated by just 100 points every position is important.
Bodine had a solid 10th place finish at Iowa but will be looking for more this weekend at Nashville. He won this race a year ago but posted a 21st place finish in the spring here.
Still Bodine has an average finish of 7.1 and the defending champ is still looking for his first win of the season.
My drivers to watch this week are Dillon, Buescher and Matt Crafton.
The Lucas Deep Clean 200 is 8 ET Friday on SPEED.
