On Friday night the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be looking to settle bragging rights in NASCAR’s backyard; Charlotte Motor Speedway.
After a very exciting race in Dover last weekend the series will be the first to hit the track in Charlotte Speedweeks.
A few drivers are getting hungrier and hungrier to win their first race of the season.
Last week I said Ron Hornaday would win at Dover well I am sticking with my pick to win last week. Hornaday has been running so consistent on a week to week basis.
Hornaday has run well at CMS in the past since 2005 his worst finish was 23rd and that was in 2008. Otherwise, the former champion has notched two wins here last one was in 2009.
With a average start of 5.2 and a average finish of 7.3. Hornaday could break into the win column this weekend.
At the track of 812 laps run in six events he has ran all but one of them. Hornaday is looking forward to CMS as much as anyone with his history here.
“Everyone wants to win and loves to win at Charlotte. It’s so close to home, and it’s great to be near family and friends. We are bringing a brand new truck to the track. Jeff Hensley and the guys at the shop are doing such a great job, and we are really looking forward to the race.”
Shouldn’t surprise you as he tends to get better as the season wears on and that begins this weekend at CMS.
For Johnny Sauter he is the only series regular to win a race this season and early on he is sitting second the standings behind teammate Matt Crafton.
At CMS, his two finishes at CMS in CWTS have garnered him 12th and 13th place finishes. He hasn’t led any laps here in those two races but Sauter should be a contender for the win.
This season Sauter his worse finish was 17th at Daytona but since his win he has finished seventh and last week 11th.
It is all about momentum from this point on in the season as the series will be at tracks similar to CMS the next couple weekends.
My picks to watch this weekend are Hornaday, Todd Bodine and series leader Crafton.
The N.C. Education Lottery 200 is Friday at 7 ET on SPEED.
