NAACP President Condemns Mayweather's Ignorant Actions

Finally, someone from the NAACP has taken a stand against Mayweather Jr and as expected Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, two characters who are more known today for exploiting issues to support their hidden agendas and lack of consistency as far as ensuring that justice is served for everyone were nowhere to be found.

Instead it was Jeff Moore, the NAACP President for the Silicon Valley and San Jose area, who in an interview with Hazel Espinosa of Balitang America, a Filipino news program, was shown watching Mayweather's rant on a laptop.

After watching the clip of Mayweather, he stated, "It doesn't take much to know when someone is speaking ignorant.....I cannot excuse it and I cannot condone that type of behavior from anybody or that type of language in representing a culture."

With Moore was Ben Menor, the Santa Clara chair of NAFFAA (National Federation of Filipino American Associatio) who was there to ask the NAACP to reprimand the self proclaimed 'Greatest Of All Time' for insulting people of color.

In the interview, Moore also stated that he was shocked and devasted by Mayweather's comments and criticized the latter for crossing the line in his quest to promote himself.  According to him, while trash talking is part of sports, it does not provide an excuse to be racist and if Mayweather wants to come out and promote himself, then he needs to find a good writer.

Definitely, it's become too convenient for many in the media and sport figures to hide behind their professions and use it as an excuse whenever they commit any transgressions.  As professionals, who can greatly influence the public, they must be held accountable like any other person, when they cross the line.

He also wants to let the Filipino community know that Mayweather's opinions are not a representation of how African Americans view their culture.

Mr. Moore is correct, and it is the same way in regards to the Filipino boxing fans.  The racist comments spouted off in the internet by 'supposedly' Pacquiao fans are probably coming from only  a select few and many of them may not even be Filipinos.  So as Mr. Moore also said in the interview, let's just stick to boxing and don't get too personal. Remember what Pacquiao says, 'Nothing personal, just doing my job.'
