The Mystics won a very important game over the Liberty last night in front of an extremely energetic crowd.  The game had a playoff atmosphere as the fans were electric from the tip off until the final horn.  The fans cheered on the Mystics in a tightly contested match.

The Mystics are now one step closer to being the number one seed in the Eastern Conference as they are now tied with New York and Indiana all with identical records (21-12)  The game went back and forth but it looked like the Mystics were going to run away with the game as it took a twelve point lead into the 4th quarter.  The Liberty is a great team and showed great heart as they came back and had a three point lead with a little under two minutes to go.

The Liberty had won ten straight until the Mystics' Harding hit the game winner with 8.8 seconds left to finally put the Mystics ahead.  The defense held on as the Liberty had two missed opportunities in the end.  The Mystics now control its own destiny in terms of playoff seeding.  The Mystics finish the regular season tomorrow in Atlanta and if the Mystics win it will have sole position of first place because the team holds tie breakers over New York and Indiana.

If the Mystics defeat Atlanta on Sunday it will clinch the Eastern Conference title and the top seed in the playoffs along with home-court advantage. Should Washington lose to the Dream (19-14) and both Indiana and New York win their last contests, the combination would drop the Mystics to third place.

For one night though, the Mystics fans got to enjoy a game that had a playoff atmosphere.  If the Mystics win over Atlanta, the Mystics will not only be the number one seed, but will get to treat the fans to some playoff basketball as well.
