The start of Training Camp is just a few weeks away. Celtics Nation is fired up and ready for October 26th. I am salivating at the thought of another exciting Celtics season. The drive for another title begins soon and here are my predictions for the 2010-11 Boston Celtics:
MVP
Rajon Rondo
Sixth Man
Nate Robinson
Starting Center on Opening Night
Shaq
What happens when Perk comes back?
Perk will start at center with Shaq backing him up. Jermaine O'Neal and Glen "Big Baby" Davis will back up Kevin Garnett. Doc Rivers will use Jermaine & Big Baby as situational substitutes off the bench. If Perk is not 100%, Shaq will start will start at center with Perk, or Jermaine backing him up until Perk is 100%. In my opinion, I would not bring Kendrick Perkins back until he is fully ready to return.
Who will back up Paul Pierce at the Small Forward Position?
Marquis Daniels will fill the role as long as he can stay healthy. If he goes down with in injury, Luke Harangody will take over and back up Paul Pierce. Look for Luke to be a big suprise this season. He is the only player in Big East Conference history to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in Big East games during his career. I think that he will prove to be the steal of 2010-11 NBA Draft and a valuable Celtic in 2010-11.
Final Regular Season Record
54-28 (3rd Seed in the Eastern Conference)
Final Season Result
2010-11 NBA Champions
Additional Thoughts:
I look forward to the upcoming season. Rajon Rondo will take over the leadership role for the C's and be our 2010-11 MVP. Nate Robinson will provide spark and energy off the bench. He is a scoring machine and can jump out of the gym. The Big Shamrock will start at center on Oct. 26th. He is a true center. He can control the boards, and has solid offensive moves under the basket.
In January, or February, Kendrick Perkins will return and start at center with Shaq coming off the bench. as long as he is 100%. Perk is a dominant defensive player. He is a solid scorer down low. If he is not 100%, Doc will ease him into the lineup until he is fully ready to be the player he is, when he is fully healthy.
Marquis Daniels will back up Paul Pierce and be very effective on both ends of the floor as long as he can stay healthy. If not, look out for 2010 second-round draft pick Luke Harangody. I believe that he can a big threat on the bench.
The C's will finish the season with a 54-28 record and take the 3rd seed in the East. They will beat the Miami Heat in a classic Eastern Conference Final series and get sweet revenge over the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals to win the NBA Title and raise Banner 18 in the rafters of the TD Garden.
