The free agency period has finally begun and it has started off with a bang!! Just kidding it was an anti-climatic first two nights. I will get into my dream theory for the New York Knicks 2010 off-season but first I need to vent about the other night. I tuned into MSG at 12AM on July 1st for 2 minutes to see what this “Knicks Night Live” stuff was all about but all they did was tell me what I already knew. I don’t blame MSG for trying to get ratings it was a good attempt; to bad for them the Mets game was still on other wise my loser-ass would’ve probably watched it anyway.
So aaaaaaanyway Rudy Gay is gone re-signed with the Memphis Grizzlies officially taking them out of the LeBron hunt (not that they had a chance anyway). With Rudy Gay resigning it took away my sarcastic theory that LeBron was going to Memphis because Elvis is the King and LeBron is the King and how could we not see that coming? However, before I could write a humorous post on LeBron James in Memphis Rudy Gay has to ruin a good article and about 3 or 4 teams’ “Plan B or C” by resigning. Also ruining some teams’ secondary plans was John Salmons who re-upped in Milwaukee with the Bucks (even though Salmons will probably get traded mid-season again).
So now my dream theory goes as follows....
just to clarify dream theory means I know it’s probably not going to happen although anything is possible.
1. The Knicks somehow convince LeBron James and Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire to sign with New York
2. Trade Eddy Curry and Wilson Chandler to Washington for Gilbert Arenas and some scrub if it has to be done to match up salaries.
- I know it will be a tough sell to fans because Arenas is not exactly a smart man but the guy can still ball with the best of them and he will merely be the third option
3. Resign Tracy McGrady to be the sixth man
4. Sign Shaq to play center
5. Tell Danilo Gallinari to do nothing but shoot 3s
This team will easily compete for a championship and I know I’m not breaking any ground by saying this. This article is all for fun because nobody out there knows what’s going on and it’s funny to hear all of these conflicting reports so I figured I’d have my own.....you heard it here first
Starting Lineup
Shaq
Bosh/Stoudemire
LeBron
Gallinari
Arenas
Bench
T-Mac
Toney Douglas
Andy Rautins
Landry Fields
Backup Center - whoever that may be maybe Earl Barron?
If the Knicks don't get LeBron James the off season does not have to be a failure. If Bron-Bron doesn't come to New York the Knicks need to somehow trade for Chris Paul and build around him. I know he is coming off an injury but CP3 is the best point guard in the league so please do not let last season fool you. Paul is so good he made Tyson Chandler look like an All Star a few years back so why would you not want this guy? Sign and trade package deal with David Lee and Eddy Curry? I'd take back Peja Stojakovic or Emeka Okafor's contract if I had to in order to land Chris Paul it is not even a debate.
