Mozgov Needs To See Minutes
340

Okay, here we go! After a very nice performance against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, TImofey Mozgov made a case for himself to possibly crack the rotation. I say possibly because that has been the scenario all season. Mozzy went from starting to not even seeing action in 11 straight games. Why? Who knows.
One thing is for certain though, he gives the Knicks a competitive advantage at the Center position when he is in the game. At 7'0'', he can help even out the rebounding margin that opponents hold over the Knicks night in and night out. He has proven he is a pretty solid free throw shooter and crashes the boards with reckless abandon. With Mozgov in the rotation, it allows for coach D'Antoni to monitor Amar'e Stoudemire's minutes. The wear and tear of the NBA season can really take it's effect, especially late in the season on a star such as Stoudemire.
Secondly, when the Knicks face bigger opponents such as the Magic with Dwight Howard, Mozgov can give a solid 12-15 minutes banging the boards and creating problems for opposing big men. If the Knicks expect to win and beat the upper echelon in the East, Mozgov will need to be involved and provide productive minutes. Period.
