Moving Forward: Tonight In Cleveland
| Written by: Brian Gray @ The Knicks Central

"I'm coming home, I'm coming home, tell the world that I'm coming home, thought my kingdom awaits!"

Just a little juice by Dirty Money and Diddy that was played the other night during Carmelo's return to New York playing in a Knicks uniform. That song has grown on me in the last week or so, I must admit. But all else aside, there's a lot of basketball to be played.

But first, before we get to the nitty gritty of the NBA season and tonight's game in Cleveland, I need to air something out. I'm so sick of hearing the Knicks made a bad deal and this and that. Deron Williams was a better deal for New Jersey and so forth. Gimme a break! And here's why, so listen up!

The New York Knicks made one heckuva deal. The Knicks now have Carmelo Anthony in New York to team up with Amar'e Stoudemire. Two stars. I repeat STARS in this league. Get it? Good. Also coming with 'Melo is Chauncey Billups, a premiere veteran point guard who is a proven winner. A proven winner. Get it? Good. The Knicks did not give up their most highly touted young star in Landry Fields. Yep, he's still in Blue and Orange. As a rookie he has produced more than anyone expected and look for him to be a Knick for a long time. Which means, alongside Melo, Stoudemire and Billups for at least this year and next. The bodies that the Knicks gave up for this deal was a lot. Sure there's not denying it. But the person I was most upended with losing wasn't Gallo, Chandler, Mozgov. Nope. It was Raymond Felton. Though helter skelter at times, he was haivng the best year of his career and was molding into a nice floor general. But, then again for the time being, I'll take Finals MVP Chauncey Billups. Can't go wrong.

The leadership qualities of the, "New Three," as I call them will pay dividends in the end. 'Melo has already given a speech or two reguarding defense. Stoudemire has a will to win and knows he's a leader on this team. He's shown that all year without 'Melo in the picture. Look for the guys who were kept such as Shawne Williams, Ronny Turiaf, Bill Walker, Toney Douglas (who's shown already) to step up. With leadership and star status on the floor with you, now these younger role players are held accountable. Their best will come out night in and night out and watch then fill the void of the players that were traded to Denver. Mark it. Take it to the bank.

Whewww! That was a breath taker. Now, tonight, the Knicks travel to Cleveland where there hasn't been much of anything positive going on all year. Even dating back to football season and the Browns. Oh wait, Baron Davis was acquired and Mo Williams was sent to L.A. That should do the trick? The Knicks go in tonight riding sort of high off the win over Milwaukee on Tuesday in 'Melo's debut. Chemistry seemed to be a bit of a pitfall, but judging by the post game presser, everyone knows it will take some time. But, the time is now. 'Melo stated that, Amar'e knows it and Billups knows and is willing. That's the key. Billups is willing because for now this is his home and he is intent on giving Knicks fans and the organization his veteran expertise. So tonight, the Knicks make the second step, this time in a road game against the lowly Cavaliers who actually beat the Knicks at Quicken Loans arena earlier in the season. If this is real and this is now, the Knicks plain and simple can't let that happen again.

Peace Up, Threes Down!
