One of the best things about being part of a network is the connections you make. As a wrestling fan and writer, it's often difficult to have everyday conversations on the topic, given the lack of popularity of wrestling in today's world. Thus, the internet can be a beautiful thing.
Just within the FanVsFan world, I have made connections with such wrestling minds and Alex Aloise and Joe Burgett of squaredcirclesideshow.com and wrestlingfromeveryangle.com, respectively. Both guys are huge fans and take a lot of pride in their work. I seriously recommend checking out their sites.
Even greater, FanVsFan became affiliated with a site called HittheRopes.com. These guys have been going at it for a while, and on top of their fantastic site, they do a weekly radio show where they have interviewed some fantastic wrestling talent. This week, their guest was Matt Hardy.
While Hardy could certainly be accused of taking crazy pills before putting out his Youtube videos, he sounded down to earth, intelligent, and even savvy during his interview with the HTR guys. They speak on a number of interesting topics and it's a great listen.
After that though, the show needed some more firepower. That's where I come in. I figured I'd give these guys a call and talk a little wrestling, and I just kind of jumped in wherever the conversation was at. The topic was underdogs and they were talking about the 1,2,3 Kid and how he played that role, so I added my two cents on it. We went on to discuss the Miz and his feud with Cena and though we disagreed on the topic, it was great to go back and forth with some guys that know their stuff.
The HTR guys were nice enough to let me plug FanVsFan and this site at the end of the call along with our new twitter page. That page is @FanVsFanMotSS. If you are a twitter person, you can go ahead and follow us on there as I try and learn how to use the damn thing!
As far as this interview with Matt Hardy and my appearance on the show, I have included it below. Matt Hardy comes on about 20 minutes in, and I am on about 14 minutes from the end of the show. You'll know it's me because my first line was "is this me? Eric". Yea, I was a bit confused as to whether they actually put me on, but once we got going, it was a lot of fun.
