Post Game:
The New York Mets ended up winning tonight by the score 8-2.
Mike Pelfrey (6-9 4.55) pitched a complete game to get the win, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits and only walking one batter using 108 pitches.
Bronson Arroyo (7-9 5.58) didn't have his stuff tonight, receiving the loss, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits in only 6 innings of work, pitching 96 pitches.
On the day when Carlos Beltran was dealt to the San Francisco Giants in a deal for top prospect Zack Wheeler, many said that the Mets were going to put up the "white flag". That didn't happen as the Mets have now won another road series.
Lucas Duda, who subbed in for Beltran, and will likely get most of the playing time in right field, hit a home run, showing his muscular strength.
David Wright is now 12-20 in his first 6 games of the 10 game road trip.
Daniel Murphy continues to "rake" with another 4 hit performance.
The Mets are currently 7.5 games out of the wild card spot after the Braves pulled off two extra inning walk off wins in the last 2 days.
Game Ball: Mike Pelfrey gets the game ball for his complete game, which was much needed after using 5 pitchers for last nights game.
Bottom Line: Carlos Beltran has been traded, but the Mets won't give up yet.
